„Prevention of Exposure to Hazardous Substances“ Conference
The „Prevention of Exposure to Hazardous Substances“ Conference, organized by the Administration of Safety and Health at Work, was held in the Belgrade City Hall on October 30th.
The conference was addressed by Dr Krista Sedlaček, director of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, representatives of the Independent Trade Unions of Serbia, the “Nezavisnost” (Independence) Association of Branch Trade Unions, the Serbian Employers’ Union, Zoran Đorđević, minister of labour, employment, combat and social issues, Marina Furtula, acting director of the Administration of Safety and Health at Work, Stevan Đurović, acting director of the Labour Inspectorate, prof. dr Aleksandar Milovanović, director of the Serbian Institute for Occupational Medicine, and prof. dr Petar Bulat from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade.
The Rudnik company, one of the best examples of good practice and the only winner of the European award for safety and health at work from these regions, held a presentation on the topic „Managing Hazardous Substances“, the author of which is Ljiljana Obrenović, advisor for chemistry and ecology and a representative of the management for IMS, and Zoran Nedeljković, executive director of the Rudnik company. The presentation was held by Ljiljana Obrenović, who presented the method of conducting waste management activities, the legal framework of transport, storage, registration and use of hazardous waste, secure handling procedures, the achieved results and the effects of corrective measures for the mitigation of risk, as well as the promotion of safety and health at work.
The Rudnik company is the winner of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work’s international award for safety and health at work for the year 2016/2017, competing with the submitted 42 works from 23 EU member-states. Besides, the Rudnik company has an integrated management system and has established a system of safety and protection at work at the entire company level in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Safety and Health at Work and according to the OHSAS 18001 standard.
