Mining on Rudnik throughout Prehistory, Classical Period and Middle Ages
On August 4th 2018, official opening of the exhibition “Mining on Rudnik throughout Prehistory, Classical Period and Middle Ages” was organised at the gallery of the Cultural Centre “Vojislav Ilic” on the occasion of the Miners’ Day.
In cooperation with the Museum of Rudnik-Takovo Region, the exhibition showed exhibits discovered in 2017, related to mining and trade on the mountain of Rudnik, which represent a unique and exclusive finding in this part of Europe. Moreover, after more than 150 years, the Septimius Severus plate, from the facade of the ancient temple dedicated to Mother Earth, the protector of the miners, is again on Rudnik. The exhibition was completed by a mining tool from the National Museum in Cacak, which was found on Rudnik and medieval money with the inscription RUDNIK from the collection of Momcilo Paunovic. The authors of the exhibition are Ana Cicovic, senior curator of the Museum of Rudnik-Takovo Region, Dr Dragana Antonovic from the Archaeological Institute in Belgrade and Dr Dejan Radicevic from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. The exhibition will be open until September 7th.
